Reflection is one of the key tools in order to promote growth in any area. Below are a series of lessons geared towards promoting that reflection.
Personal Journal for Jews by Choice, Temple Solel, Paradise Valley, AZ
Description: The journal exists in two versions. Version I is a one page list of “Thought Starters” for journal entries, and is given to the new Jew-by-Choice with a blank diary-style journal book. It can be used when the recipient does not have the opportunity to be involved in a post-conversion group. Version II is a pre-printed journal with a “Thought Starter” at the top of each page. This version can be used in conjunction with a pre- or post-conversion group. The “Thought Starters” are suggestions provided as a means to help the writer get started.
Goal:To support and enrich the process of conversion for those choosing Judaism and their partners.
The topics that follow fall into three basic categories:
1. Internal issues of religious commitment and change of identity, (God)
2. Family issues, (interpersonal relationship), and
3. Community acceptance and belonging (peoplehood).
