We accept the Torah, now anew
And call on God for blessings in abundance
Upon our new President.
Be this, then, our pledge,
As we renew the sacred mandate
Of our bet midrash.
To every sage who once composed a solitary line . . .
To every child who learned to read Torah . . .
To rabbis, cantors — teachers all — who labored in their lives
L’hagdil torah ul’ha’adirah:
To magnify Torah in all its splendor.”
To every man and woman, children too, our future . . .
We here vow:
That our history has mattered,
That nothing was in vain,
That sparks from every era of our past
Will become tomorrow’s radiant Torah,
Whose warming glow shall banish human ignorance and pain,
Illumining the world
With the brilliant glow of justice and of truth.
For this our God has promised, and this we have been taught:
