To insist on vision is no small task,
With prophets gone and heavenly voices stilled so long ago,
When even God is hard to hear amid life’s pain and discord,
We come to think that, more and more, we alone
Are called by God to say, convincingly,
That there will be a future.
And so we do, in this great institution.
We take a leaf from the diary of our founder,
Isaac Mayer Wise,
Who said, the day he landed on these shores,
I painted the future in golden hues.”
We are those hues,
A golden age aborning, if we so wish,
If we envision yet again,
A place of dreams, and of study, and of spirit, and of excellence.

O God:
We offer You today this service of our heart
As our pledge that we will join You in imagining tomorrow,
And raising up disciples for the longer journey still,
Into the mysteries of the end of time,
When we will stand before You,
Triumphantly proclaiming:
