This handout provides three definitions of professional collaboration: (1) tzimtzum—withholding active participation at times, in order to empower and/or learn from others; (2) sharing professional expertise—directly sharing knowledge with others, to maintain empowerment; and (3) active interchange—balancing the act of influencing and being influenced in order to generate a sense of shared community.
