This is a description of a model from the Congregation Sha’ar Zahav. The model, Galei Limud/Learning Waves, provides trains adults in content and teaching skills, so that they may become teachers of the children, working closely with classroom teachers. The summary includes an outline of the congregation’s vision and goals; structure, including who the learners are, when and where the learning is taking place and at what frequency, and a sample schedule; curriculum; educators, specifying who the teachers are, their characteristics and a job description; leadership, with an explanation of the various roles of professional and lay leadership; infrastructure, culture, and the program implementation process, including first steps and alternative models.
