This handout is a study of Numbers 13-14, the story of the twelve scouts who are sent to spy out the land of Canaan. They return with ripe fruits and with conflicting reports about the challenges ahead. The discussion questions invite the task force to analyze the biblical passage in light of the five Conditions for Change (also included in the handout) and to reflect on how the biblical characters could have managed the spies’ reports and the people’s responses more effectively.
