Synagogues are vitally important to the Jewish future. The challenge of the synagogue is to make a meaningful and lasting impression on the lives of those who are engaged with it. Is the synagogue an inherently static, conservative institution, or an extremely flexible, responsive institution? Weinberg asserts that synagogues need help to become and remain dynamic and central to the lives of today’s Jews.
