Rob Weinberg gave these opening remarks at Yachdav—All Together, a gathering of Task Force members from 15 congregations in the Re-Imagine Project of New York, in March, 2005. Weinberg acknowledges that the needs, motivations, and paradigms of Jewish supplementary education have shifted with contemporary society. New leadership, ideas, energy, and models are needed to adjust and adapt to these needs. Adapting to new characteristics will not be easy, but will require bravery, clarity of vision, and strength of conviction. Weinberg congratulates the attendees on their progress and success in re-imagining Jewish education. He outlines the stages of the re-imagine process: forming task forces; looking inward; looking outward to learn about innovative models; asking new questions; and thinking more deeply about new educational possibilities. Weinberg underlines the next steps in the process: learning about what it takes to be an innovator and to create a vision for new models of education.
