Enculturation and the Design Process

These handouts include a diagram and several texts about the flaws in using secular education/instruction as the model for religious education, arguing instead for a process of “enculturation” and deriving personal meaning from Jewish learning. The second half of the resource outlines the design process for innovation in congregational education using three teams: a task force, a pilot sub-team, and an initiative sub-team. A timeline shows the different tasks for each team and the ways they interact with each other throughout the process of designing and implementing learning programs.
