This text study uses two famous, but somewhat contradictory, midrashim on the giving of the Torah (Midrash Tanchuma Yitro and Mekhilta d’Rabi Shimon bar Yohai) as an opportunity to explore tensions in what it means to accept the Torah and how these tensions influence a congregation’s educational vision.
